Children's Liturgy is held every Sunday at the 9.00am Mass at St Joseph's Church during the school term.

We have a wonderful group of dedicated parents who make this ministry possible.   If you would like to learn more about Children's Liturgy, please contact the parish 3391 4663.

Vision

Ministry with children and their families aims to encourage and empower children to:

  • Embrace the person and vision of Jesus
  • Build communion with God and others
  • Engage in Jesus’ mission in our world.

The vision for children and young people in the Archdiocese of Brisbane has been stated thus: That young people are helped by a set of faith development opportunities to integrate their faith with everyday experience.

Faith Formation

Our local church acknowledges and promotes faith learning that is life long and life giving. The spiritual journey is just that – a journey from womb to tomb.

Formation in the faith is the responsibility of the whole Christian community. To this end, faith formation partners are crucial. The church has identified family, parish and school as essential partners in the process of leading children to faith.

The Youth and Children's ministry team provide training, support, advocacy and resources for those involved in

  • The religious education of children in State Schools
  • Parish sacramental programs
  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word celebrations
  • Parish catechesis eg Kid's Club's and Holiday Programs

Sustaining a Pathway

To support the goal of welcoming the initiated, sustaining them and forming them in the faith, the Archdiocese of Brisbane encourages an integrated and comprehensive approach called Pathways.

An individual’s spiritual journey is formed, nurtured and deepened by many different experiences and opportunities. The Archdiocese of Brisbane promotes Pathways; an approach that is integrated and intentional and which enables parishes and deaneries to vision and plan the shape and focus of ministry with children, young people and their families.

Pathways, describes a way of developing ministry with children and young people as a journey of spiritual growth from the earliest years to 20 something, a journey of many steps.
