Lighting of the THIRD Advent candle
Presider On this Gaudete Sunday we are called to be joyful. The joy of this day springs from our anticipation and excitement that the Lord’s coming is very near.
As we light our third Advent candle, we ask the Lord to remove any sadness from our hearts that may hinder us from embracing the peace and hope which his presence bestows on us this Christmas.
(The third Advent candle is lit)
Presider I confess to almighty God…
All and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Presider May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.
